Hello everybody. My name is Aiden and I'm 36 years old. I'm not a parent of a special needs child, but my younger brother has some learning disabilities and I've had to help out when I was much younger with helping him learn how to do simple things. Now he's in his early 20's and seems to be doing ok, but he was on Ritalin for a long time so I know how the mood swings can be. He did even manage to graduate from high school. Not with high honors or anything but that was an accomplishment I think.
Hi Aiden, just wanted to say that you are a true hero and your brother is a winner for graduating high school as many give up to fight for a better condition. And I'm sure it wasn't easy at all for both of you.
I agree! It couldn't have been easy for either of you, back then there wasn't much known about learning disabilities and things of that nature.
What a caring brother. I'm actually an older brother with special needs, but I definitely see the care involved with the roles reversed.
Well, the worst of it was the late grade school and middle school years. I think after puberty his condition improved enough where he wasn't too bad on his own and felt the need for responsibility and got things done on his own.
